The national anthem is tough to sing. Like, really hard. And when you sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at a huge event like, say, the World Series, the pressure can be super intense. Sometimes, you screw it up on purpose, and other times, well, you just get caught up in a moment and forget where you were.

But here's the thing. If you're the guy who slammed another singer for getting the lyrics wrong a few years ago, you better DAMN WELL get them right when it's your turn. And so we give you Staind singer turned country crooner Aaron Lewis, who had the honors on Sunday night during game 5 of the World Series in San Francisco.

He got off to a good start, but then instead of singing "at the twilight's last gleaming," he sang "What so proudly we hailed... were so gallantly streaming," a line that he sang again a short time later when it came around in its proper place.

You see, back in 2011, Christina Aguilera fumbled the lyrics pretty hard at the Super Bowl and Lewis slammed her for it.

"I guess I just don’t understand how people who sing The National Anthem can be so f---ing self-absorbed that they would try to change that f---ing song. If there is a single song in the history of this country that deserves no creative interpretation, it's that one," he said at the time. Did you forget about that dis?

Well, here it is.

Lewis was, of course, as embarrassed as Xtina was after her flub, apologizing in a Facebook post. "All I can say is I'm sorry and ask for the Nation's forgiveness. My nerves got the best of me and I am completely torn up about what happened," he wrote. "America is the greatest country in the world. The Star-Spangled Banner means so much to so many, including myself. I hope everyone can understand the intensity of the situation and my true intent of this performance."
